» WCG EUROPE 2003 - SAMSUNG -- BY Kz3R Sep 28, 2003 «

This is the official final news related to this event.

The WCG 2003 Samsung Euro Cyber Games have taked place today in Paris, with the games Age of Mythology, Fifa 2003, Unreal Tournament 2003, Counter Strike, Warcraft 3 and Starcraft.

The place was wonderful, located in the most modern, clean and expensive district of Paris. The gaming area was very nice, clean and spacious and there were many employees and journalists for such an event. We got to see the best european gamers and it felt like an hudge moment. We saw some nice and great shows in theater area, really amazing.

Many thanks to Samsung to have sponsorised that, for our gaming communities.

But on the other side the french organiser failed occasionally in their micro management and seriousness. Several PC´s didn´t work properly on the D-Day. At the last moment they were replaced.

This caused many delays during the tournament and each game admin had to handle this with their angry players unfortunaly.

I was one of them, dedicated to the european tournament of Starcraft/Broodwar.

Here is a comment from Sam Hassanine, one of the chief managers of the WCG 2003 Samsung Euro Cyber Games:

"I'm sorry i'm a gamer aswell, i understand your gamers opinions, but i can't do nothing against that. Your gamers have already won their trip to Korea. So it doesn't matter to know who is the real european champion. Today, it's just an exhibition tournament. Just launch, as soon as you can, your tournament for Starcraft with a simple bracket, best of one, we haven't got enough time and enough PC's for your group system with Best of Three now. I'm sorry!"

Omg i know it sucks, but what can i do against that? So here are my players :

France AspeaK[P.M] Member of a national team
France AMD-ElkY Member of a national team
Hungary Cameleonx Member of a national team

And the draw of the tournament, with some replays : http://www.wgtour.com/draw.php?datab=broodwar&id=2931

My apologies for this sucky format, but it wasn't my decision.

Good Games anyway to the all Starcraft European champions, it was an high level of competition, and Good luck in Korea.

Pictures will be update soon. Stay tuned.

Thanks again to Samsung.
